India where on one hand we observe Unity in so many aspects at the same time we also seem cultural and traditional diversity is in so many respect similarly we also observe lots of diversity is in food culture in different parts of the country and Ud it and different types of food culture Ash gourd through generations in Indian culture.
Lat us come to know that what kind of unique aspects of food culture and cooking culture has existed through generations in India whitch surprises the whole world.
There have been so many types of cuisines with different names in different parts of India and this cultural diversity in terms of food is evident in different states of the country however India is known as the country of diversity similarly we also see the same kind of diversity in different parts of our country for example starting from east2west to north to south we come across different types of food habits and Indian food culture has developed through different kind of influencers for example North Indian food has the influence of Mughal food culture and every different part of India has a different kind of food tradition and this diversity is the most unique feature of our culture. Indian food is the amalgamation of of many different cooking traditions which includes Punjabi food Marwadi food South Indian food besides others and Ud are perfect in in themselves because the food culture and cooking culture in India is more than 5000 years old.
Duffy taste of food attracts every individual the same way it is also important that in what kind of pot or based it is being served which improves the taste and nutritional values of the food which is is an inseparable part of our cooking habits.
At present it we hardly use 5 types of plants in our daily food but it is also absent even in urban culture in India.
Normally the most popular plant to serve food has been banana leaves because in ancient scriptures it has been said that serving food in banana leaves is best for or the health and nutrition.

It is also said that parrot tree leaves are so good for serving food that it is compared with serving food in in Golden dishes and eating in banana leaves is equivalent to eating in silver dishes.

Normally food is served in banana leaves in south India for many centuries but people are hardly aware of the amazing health benefits of eating in in plant leaves.

In present time we are using only five types of plant leaves for serving food and of them the most popular is banana leaves and if we are eating in banana leaves it has equal effect of eating in silver leaves. It is said that eating in in banana leaves provide us with the blessing of God as well as good health because banana leaves are very important in our life and it is mostly used in performing rituals while offering prayers to God.

Harmful thermocol and plastic dishes are replacing plant leaves to serve food
The effect of modern generation is quite evident on 27 of serving food in plant leaves and these leaves are now being replaced by thermocol plate are plastic plates however in Indian culture and tradition for many generations plant leaves were used to serve food necessarily but at the same time use of plant leaves to serve the food is now becoming popular in in other countries of the world but in India we are getting away from our cultural and religious and social traditions because in old times no auspicious occasion could get completed without using plant leaves to serve food aur offer food to God but these days the use of plant leaves is Losing its importance.
It is also a fact that the livelihood of LAX of labourers is associated with plant leaves plate industry in in an organised sector and in the states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal and Jharkhand and Rajasthan plates made of plant leaves were highly popular but these days we are witnessing a major shift and plant leaves are are getting replaced very fast. However despite the adverse impact of modern traditions on plant leaves plate industry event today in rural parts of the country the tradition of serving food in plant leaves is still being practiced mostly but in urban cities plates of many different materials are replacing these plant leaf plates and at present we are seeing that buffet system is highly popular and this culture has made the use of plant leaf plates irrelevant.
You will be surprised to know that in our country India, leaves are prepared from the leaves of more than 2000 plants and you get the benefits of traditional medicine (Ayurveda) by eating food on these leaves. At present, we hardly use five types of plants in the process of consuming our daily food. |
There has not been any historical evidence available to prove van the tradition of making plant leaf plates and serving food begin in India but it is a fact that it this has been an age old tradition and it is the most surprising fact that once upon a time 20000 types of leaves were used to make plates to be used for serving food but it in Modern era this industry has become almost extinct and mostly in urban areas this tradition has got vanished. In our ancient scriptures we get a description of of the tradition of offering food or serving food in banana leaves but in today's era we have costly hotels and restaurants and it is a good development that even there the traditional of using Banana Leaf plates is high in demand and it is very interesting to know that even if the people of India are giving up the use of plant leaves as plates to serve food but in other countries of the world this tradition is growing very fast.
Especially in European countries like Germany where plant leaf plates are becoming Highly popular and taking care of environment people are more and more interested to use plant leaf plates to eat food and taking lesson from Germany in this custom is is growing very fast in other parts of the Europe.
Health experts have been cautioning us since long that use of plastic and thermocol to make plates for serving food is harmful in many respects and they also say that disposal thermocol plates are harmful because when we eat food from thermocol plates the Chemicals of the plate material are mixed up in our food which are very harmful for our health and can destroy our digestive system and given this fact it is also so sad that it can lead to cancer like deadly diseases similarly disposable glass Chemicals have very bad effect on small intestine.
At present in West Bengal the plates made of shell curry leaves industry has applied the government to come forward to rescue this sector because the representatives of this industry have said that the plates made of these leaves are are very cheap and they also have lots of health benefits and plant leaf plates are as important for serving food as is is jute for Packaging of merchandise and goods and the traders of this industry have claimed that if government can come forward to protect jute industry why can not the government come forward to protect the plant leaf plate industry because it is high time to promote the production of these leaves. If it does not happen then hundreds of years old tradition of making plates of plant leaves will die very soon and Ud of plant leaf plates and many social organisations have appealed Tu to protect this industry because this industry and shows livelihood and so many health benefits and above all it is becoming Highly popular in other countries of the world then why should it die in its home country India.
