Why is spiritual path considered as Great?

Out of various prakalps of education being run by Param Shradheya Swami Ramdev Jee Maharaj and Param Pujya Acharya Jee, Vedic Gurukulam and Vedic Kanya Gurukulam are prominent. They aim at building fully aware, strong, dedicated saints and sadhvi who can provide best directions and divine leadership to the world. The main objectives of Vedic Gurukulam and Vedic Kanya Gurukulam are to groom divine successor of rishi. The Gurukulam aims at establishing India as an spiritual nation and world teacher by developing a deep understanding of subjects like yog, ayurved, ved-vedang, upang, philosophy, upnishad, etc apart from modern Economics, Social Science, etc.
Therefore, Shri Swami Jee Maharaj, Param Pujya Acharya Jee Maharaj among hundreds of saints and sadhvi appeal to those people, who want to lead a life by aiming to attain yog, ved, service, spiritualism, nation religion, service religion, enlightenment, to move on this divine path and take forward their life. The Upanishad also says—
Shreyashcha preyashcha manushyamevastau samparitya vivinakti dhirah
Shreyo hi dhiroabhi preyaso vranite preyo mando yogakshemad branite
(Kathopanishad, Chapter 9 Valli 2, Mantra 2)
‘Shreya and preya’ come before the human being. The intellectual persons understand it differently by pondering over it clearly. That intellectual person prefers welfare of human being to luxury. Longing for eternal yog, the fool person adopts luxury.
In the Upanishad, the path of spiritualism was given prominence in comparison to worldly path. But those who decide their own path have two options one is shreya path and other is preya path. This point is debatable that why sanyas path is called great? Why do we select shreya path?
First of all, it’s impossible to emerge this question in the mind because there is no divinity and maturity in the ideological level of the human being. Today, we live on the periphery. We ponder over the subject with no attention. We can say that our consciousness has become so insensitive with dirty layers of bad thoughts that it doesn’t want to think seriously. Today, the human society is nothing but consumer and doing work without pondering over it. It has lost control over itself. There is no possibility of stoppage. It has left the hope of it. Then, it’s natural for you to know that why is the path of spiritualism great? Why should we follow it? It means that your heart has love and affection and it looks like fertile land. The guru has been showering blessings on you. Knowledge and refinement are eager to come out. Let them emerge. Don’t get feared with such bad refinement. You are fortunate enough. You have got an opportunity. How? Because a large section of human being is of view that worshiping God, jap, tap, meditation, yog, social service, support, sanyas, etc are meant for a particular class. They have nothing to do with it. They don’t think over it.
Unfortunately, they search for that happiness which is also the objective of a yogi. But they try to search for that water in the desert like world. As the water is seen in any place in the desert, similarly a worldly person finds happiness in the luxury. Again, the deer reaches there crying, similarly, enjoyer attains that luxury by facing struggle and difficulties. When the deer finds no water at that place, similarly, the enjoyer knows that he got no happiness. His thirst remains the same. Again, he thinks that he may get more happiness. His longing continue to grow. Then he starts to get saddened. Despite having prosperity and happiness, he failed to get bliss. Sankhyakar has said—
Na bhogadragashantirmunivat
(Sankhya. 4, Chapter 27)
Yatprighivyam vrihiyavam hiranyam paravah striyah I
Ekasyapi na paryaptam tasmat trishnam parityajet II
Whatever wheat, barley, rice, gold, animal, women, etc, are on this earth, are not enough for even a single person filled with wishes and longing. And, it’s impossible for a single person to possess such things. If he possesses all these items, he will remain unfulfilled. Therefore, the people must renounce longing and wishes. It’s not easy for him to renounce them.
Therefore, in this vicious circle of bad refinements, if someone feels that should he select the path of shreya? Why is shreya path great? It means that you are out of danger. Don’t fall prey to danger again. Take precaution and provide conducive atmosphere to it to grow.
We must ponder over that why should we select the path of shreya?
Lord Shri Shankaracharya Jee termed three things as rare—(1) Humanity, (2) Mumukshta (3) Association with great personality. You are fortunate enough that you have taken birth as human being. But what’s happening? Swami Akhandanand Saraswati Jee says that despite getting human life, the human being is leading a life between duty and enjoy. Surprisingly, despite getting grief in the life, the human being shows no interest to renounce it. He remains indulge in falseness. He has no faith in the truth. He is in illusion. ‘A monkey puts his hand in a small utensil to catch gram, but he failed to take his hand out of it because he was holding cereal in his fist. He will be caught. He must leave fascination of gram to save himself. It’s not possible for human being to enjoy happiness and hold it at the same time. Oh foolish mind! You come in the world to get one thing and face bondage, slavery, prosperity, happiness, worldly prosperity. Those who are not perturbed with the slavery, why will they work hard for getting freedom? Why will enlightenment emerge in them? Therefore, it’s great to get enlightened despite being the human being.
Lord Yogeshwar
Shri Krishna says in the Gita—
Manushyanam sahastreshu
kashchiddyati siddhaye I
Yatatamapi siddhanam
kashchinman vetti tatvatah II
(Shrimadbhagwadgita 7.3)
Enlightenment means wishing for emancipation. Form whom? From grief. What’s the reason behind grief? Attachment. Again, there is point of debate that why does attachment bring grief? Who has attached us? What’s the ways to get free from attachment? In fact, nobody has attached us. Are we attached with either resources or higher post? The property doesn’t recognise its owner and the office bearer keeps changing. When we lose property and post, the grief will pour in. Why? We have got attached with it.
Again, what’s enlightenment? Emancipation from grief. What did we find? Infatuation towards post, property, etc. Then what’s necessary for getting enlightenment. Emancipation from worldly subjects. Then is it possible to emancipate from subjects despite indulging in enjoy. It’s not possible.
It has been said in the Manusmriti—
As the fire gets intensified with aahuti of ghee, similarly, enjoying luxury items in the life is doing nothing but to aggravate longing and wishes. Then when will we get emancipation from worldly subjects? It gives happiness. Although, it’s temporary. But at the same time, it has so attraction that we fail to leave it. But if you want to get rid of it, it’s called enlightenment. You want to get rid of that grief. Attachment is the cause of grief. You are attached with the worldly subjects. In order to get rid of worldly subjects, you have to adopt shreya path instead of preya path. For this, you are required to have a base. Then the third unique thing is getting associated with great personality. Getting sheer blessings of revered guru, listening his discourse, chanting mantra and his sheer guidance help you know that there is grief in the world. You will start to lose attachment to the subjects. It’s possible only when you will bow down guru’s feet by renouncing temporary happiness. However, it’s hard for the human being to practise it despite living in this very world. The Upnishad says that shreya path is the greatest of all. Now, you have attained all three unique things like humanity, enlightenment and association with great personalities. Despite, if you are unable to adopt the path of shreya. If you are not eager to get rid of grief, then loiter around in search for mirage. Search for worldly happiness which you won’t find. Who has stopped you to play with toy? If you consider yourself so weak, then your life will be filled with grief. Be careful. The entire establishment is cautioning you that you will repent one day. Whenever the Satyarth Prakash will come, you will lose the opportunity. When you feel unhappiness despite enjoying worldly subjects, then you will want to follow the path of shreya. But then the life would have been collapsed. Then why do you allow that day to come in your life? Is it necessary for you to experience everything yourself? Everybody narrates its own experience. Every incident and moment give a lesson to us. There is no need to experience everything. Select the best one on the basis of that experience. We have come across with life of all. Those who have go through life householder, life of a sanyasi, life of unsuccessful person, life of successful person, life of drinker, life of a film artist, life of poor, life of millionaire, life of a sportsperson, life of a politician, etc. We have to see that who are happy? What do I want to? Then select it. There is no need to experience everything. If you are doing so, you are doing nothing but to put your fingers in the fire for gaining experience. We don’t do that. Then why are we not in a position to take decision. When you are aware that spiritual path is the great, then take appropriate decision on right time and select the path of sanyas. If you don’t do so, if you enjoy in grief, then lose the opportunity to get emancipation. Loiter around in the world-
Yo vai bhuma tatsukham nalpe sukhamasti
We have to do whatever is beneficial for us in this birth. At what time, we will remain slave. And at what time, we will live unconsciously. We have been enjoying luxury life for many births. If we are not satisfied so far, then how will we get it? We have seen life of the world. You see your parents, brother, sister, etc. Who are happy? Will anybody dare to say that his life was filled with happiness. And, you can ask a sanyasi who leads his life as boat in the water. He remains same even in happiness and grief, profit and loss, life and death, etc. You have both the alternatives. It’s true that world has great attraction. But at the same time, you have known the truth. Make your effort and accept the path of shreya. At what time will you remain in the grief? If you are daring enough, then break shackle of attachment and recognise your capability.
Think over it that is it truth or mirage for which you are sweating it out? Are you in a position to answer it that whosoever found it and enjoyed it, got prosperity, peace and bliss? Your life is the ladder of becoming eternal but at the same time you failed to get it. You have considered it which doesn’t exist as your own. Whatever is yours, isn’t recognised by you. It’s nothing but foolishness. You have considered grief as happiness and vice versa. Break the shackle of this pseudo education. Entire existence asks you to take decision unless it will be too late. Be aware of it. Try to close sense organs and go deep down to the innermost soul. Bow down to the guru’s feet. Take decision otherwise you will get perished.
Iha chedavedidatha satayamasti I
Na chedihvavedinmahati vinashtih II
