Ayurvedic constituent effective in eye, reproductive and skin disease Daruhaldi

Daruhaldi is found at height of 2000-3000 meters in Nepal, Bhutan and Srilanka. Apart from that, it’s also found in the temperate and subtropical Asia, Europe and America. It’s also found at the height of 2000-3000 meter in the temperate Himalaya and Nilgiri mountains. It has been used for khalitya treatment in the literature. It’s also used in ear disease, eye disease, varnshodhan. It has been mentioned in ashardhn, kandughn, lekhniya in brihtrayi and haldidi, mustadi and lakshadi in sushruta.

Three types of daruhaldhi Berberis asistata DC, Berberis lyceum Royale, Berberis asiatica Roxb, ex DC are used for medical treatment.

Outer Shape
1.    Daruhaldi Berberis asistata DC, tree turmeric: 
  Daruhaldi is of 2-6 meter high, straight, soft, bahuvarshayu, kantedar, vast, parnapati, jharidar kshup. Its kand is of swetabh or pandur-pitabh colour. Its stem is of pandur brown colour and rough. Its thorn is divided into 2-3 parts. Its leaves are soft and 3.8-10 cm long and of 1.5-3.3 diameter, charmvat, micro shirayukta, sharp thorn and lower part is of light green colour. The flower is of large bright yellow colour. Its fruit is of 7-10 mm long, muscle, blue, blood colour. Its base is of pitabh-badamivarni, nalikakar, glandular and long. One year old pitabh is of brown colour. It’s of yellow colour despite having boiled in water. Its flowering period is of August to February.

2.     Berberis lyceum Royale (Boxthorn Barberry): 
  It’s straight, tough, sadarahit, thorny 1.8-2.4 meter kshup. Its bulb is of pandur-pitabh-aromash or micro romash. Its stem is rough, divided and kagiya. Its leaves are 3.8-6.2 cm long, bhalakar and dantur.
    Its leaves are 3.8-6.2 cm long and 0.8-1.2 cm wide and bhalakar and dantur. Upper part of leaves is of green colour and lower part is of bright colour. Its fruit is of black blue colour, and deep neelabh. Its flowering period is of March to April and fruit period is of May to July.

3.     Berberis asiatica Roxb. ex DC
  Its straight, tough, sadarahit, thorny 1.8-2.4 meter kshup. Its bulb is of pandur-pitabh-aromash or micro romash. Its stem is rough, divided and kagiya. Its leaves are  2.5 cm long and 1.3-3.8 cm wide and highly sthul-charmil. Lower part of leaves is of green colour and upper part is of bright colour. The flower kadachit is of small 2.8 diameter. Its fruit is of 7-10 mm long, oval, raktvarni or black blue colour, bright and simple. Its flowering period is of March to April and fruit period is of May to June.

Rasanjan (Rasaut)
The soft part of krishnabh brown colour of the base of Daruhaldi (Berberis asistata DC) and lower part of its adjoining bulb  is easily soluble in water and wine.

Process
In the end of rainy season, make the base and lower bulb part in one-fourth residue kwath in sixteen times of water. Mix goat or cow milk in equal proportion in the kwath and cook it. The liquid material is called rasanjan or rasaut. Spread it in sunlight and collect it. 

Ayurvedic merits and effects

• Daruhaldi juice is of sharp, warm, micro, ruksha, anti cough, anti vishodhak and anti doshpachak.

   

• It is helpful in colour, gonorrhea, ear disease, mouth disease, eye disease, shul, kandu, visharp, skin disease, and anti toxic.

   

• Its kwath is of sharp, katu, chemical, incisor, warm. It’s helpful in eye disease, anti-cough, vrishya, anti-toxic, amatisar, chhardi, hikka and respiratory disease, breast disease and adhyavatshamak.

   

• It’s of anti-micro bacterial, anti-blood pressure, haddya, aartavavardhak and bile secretive.

   

• Its saras is of fruit cleansing and anti-scorbutic.

   

• Its root is helpful in skin disease, dysentery and eye disease.

   

• It’s beneficial in blood disease, fever, low blood pressure, shothhar and central neuron system disease.

   

• It boosts activity in tube and bio test.

   

• Its alcoholic and water part boosts colour in goat.

   

• Its non-purified part of fruits shows activity in liver toxicity driven by paracetamol and carbon tetrachloride.

   

• Its watery alcoholic part shows anti- micro bacterial activity.

   

• Methanolic part of its stem MCF 7 is of helpful in breast cancer.

   

• It’s effective in dimbgranthi-uchchhedit rabbits.

Berberis asiatica Roxb. ex DC.

• Its bulb is of anti amavat.

   

• Its base is of anti- cancer.

   

• Its panchang is helpful in abdominal disease.

   

• Its base shows anti - tumor.

   

• It shows antineoplastic activity in newly developed tumor.

   

• Its methanolic boosts liver and shows anoxydasic effect.

Berberis lycium Royle
It’s of anti-bacterial, shothhar, sharp anti-tumor. Its ksharabh shows anti-bacterial activity.

• The base shows anti-fever activity.

   

• Its methanol base shows activity in colour in the rabbits.

   

• Its methanol and watery non-purified part of the base shows anti-bacterial activity.

Rasanjan (Rasaut)
It’s of sharp, sour, warm, anti-cough, chemical, incisor, vrishya, varnya and vranya.

• It’s helpful in mucus disease, toxic effect, eye disease, hikka, respiratory disease and mouth disease.

Medicinal use

Eye disease

• Make kwath (one eighth part) of 50 gm daruhaldi in sixteen times of water. Mix honey in it and put the solution in eye to cure disease.

   

• Daruhaldi and kwath of skin of punderia are helpful in eye disease.

   

• Rasanjan is helpful in eye disease.

   

• The juice of its roots is helpful in eye disease.

   

• Aajan made of honey and rasaut is beneficial in eye disease.

Arjun

Anjan made of rasaut and honey is helpful in arjun disease.
Anjannamika
ix one fourth of rasanjan and three fourth of trikut and prepare it as tablets. Put it in the water and use it to get rid of itching. It controls anjannamika disease.
Colour blindness
Mix rasanjan, daruhaldi, haldi, chameli and neem leaves in dung water. Use it to colour blindness.
Abhishanyadi disease
Mix equal proportion of haritaki, salt, gairic and rasanjan and use it in eye disease.

Eye  disease, Eye bleeding
Mix rasaut in mother milk and put it in the honey. Put 1-2 drop of solution to control old ear bleeding.

Nasa disease
Common cold

• Use daruhaldi to control common cold.

   

• Use 1-2 drop of oil of rasaut, ativisha, nagarmotha and devdaru to control the disease.

Mouth disease

Mix daruhaldi kwath with honey to get rid of mouth disease and blood disease.
Mukhpak
Make kwath of chameli leaves, javasa, daruhaldi, guduchi, draksha and mix it with 10-30 ml of honey. It’s helpful in mouth disease.
Abdominal disease
Use 6 masha honey in 10-30 ml of davyardi kwath to check abdominal disease.

Liver disease
Kamla

• Use 750 gm buffalo ghee made of 5 gm darvighrit (1-5 liter gomutra, daruhaldi and kalk). It’s beneficial in kamla disease.

   

• Mix honey in daruhaldi swaras (5-10 ml) or kwath (10-30 ml) and use it to control pandu and kamala disease

Enlarged liver

Use fant (10-30 ml) made of base of daruhaldhi to get rid of enlarged liver.

Vrikvasit disease

Gonorrhea
Mix 10-30 ml of daruhaldi kwath in honey and use it to control gonorrhea.
Pishtmeh
Make kwath (10-30 ml) of haldi and daruhaldi and use it to control pishtmeh disease.
Mutrakrichchh
Mix powder of daruhaldi and honey with emblic juice to check mutrakrichchh.

Reproductive disease

Enlargement
Mix kalk of daruhaldi (2-4 gm) with gomutra and use to check kafaz vridhi disease.
Updansh
Use powder (1-4 gm) of rasaut, shirish skin and haritaki with honey to check this disease.
Asrigdar
Mix davyardi kwath (10-30 ml) in honey or rasanjan and roots of chaulai in honey to control this disease.

Discharge disease

• Mix honey in daruhaldi, rasanjan, nagarmotha, vasa, chirayta, bhallatak and black til to get rid of discharge disease.

   

• Mix honey in rasaut and chaulai roots and use it to get rid of this disease.

Discharge disease and other disease

Mix one spoon of honey in kwath made of daruhaldi, rasanjan, nagarmotha, bhallatak, bilvmajja, vasa leaves and chirayta and use it to check discharge and other abdominal diseases.
Puymeh
Mix haldi in kwath of daruhaldi stem to get rid of puymeh disease.
Raktpradar
Use goat milk with rasaut to check this disease.
Raktarsh
Put the rasaut in the water whole night and put one fourth of dry neem leaves and prepare tablets of 250 mg each and use it to check this disease.

Skin disease
Leprosy

• Use daruhaldi kalk to get rid of leprosy.

   

• Use 2-4 gm of daruhaldi with gomutra in this disease.

   

• Mix rasanjan made of kwath of daruhaldi with ghee to get rid of this disease.

   

• Use equal proportion of daruhaldi, khair and neem kwath (10-30 ml) regularly.

   

• Use rasaut oil and ghee to check this disease.

   

• Use 10-12 gm rasaut with 15-20 ml of gomutra till one month of to get rid of this disease.

Narivran
Use kalk made of rasaut, haldi, daruhaldi, manjith, neem leaves, nishoth, tejovati and danti to check this disease.
Romsanjanarth
Dust of elephant teeth and pure rasanjan to get rid of romsanjanan disease.
Visharp
Use kwath made of daruhaldi, vayvidang and kampillak and oil to get rid of this disease.
Sidhm
Take equal proportion of daruhaldi, muli seed, hartal, devdaru and beetal leaves and mix it with one fourth of shankhchurna. Mix it with water and use to check this disease.
Vran
The stem of daruhaldi is useful in vran disease.
Swelling
The kalk of daruhaldi and afim and saidhav lavan are helpful in checking swelling.

Sarvsharir disease

Overweight

• Use rasanjan to get rid of overweight.

   

• Use kwath of arani with 1-2 gm of rasanjan for long time to check obesity.

Ague

Use fant (10-20 ml) made of daruhaldi to get rid f ague.

Child disease
Mix 10 ml kushmand fruit swaras with daruhaldi stem and use it to get rid of this disease.

Grahbadha (Adhiputna)

• Mix 2 gm honey and 1 gm pure rasaut in 15-25 ml water (bile and anti cough liquid). Apply it to the anal part of the baby to get rid of this disease.

   

• Mix rasaut with water or milk and apply the solution to the anal part of the baby to check gudpak disease in children.

Toxic treatment

• Use haldi and daruhaldi to check snake bite.

   

• Use gauradd ghee made of daruhaldi to get rid of lutavish and other keetvish treatment.

Toxicity

• Use of 200 mg/kg of 200 mg/kg body weight quantity of watery sura sat (50%) (Aq. alcoholic (50 %) extract) dh to check rabbits.

   

• Use 24.3 mg/kg body weight quantity of berberin sulphate to get rid of rabbits.
