The habit of taking medicines without any illness in the elderly
A new study conducted on the elderly in India regarding the unsafe use of medicines has revealed shocking facts. The study found that a large number of elderly people are consuming many medicines without proper medical consultation, which can have a serious impact on their health. The study was conducted on 600 elderly people in six cities, in which it was found that 20 percent of the elderly were taking medicines without medical advice. 33.7 percent of the elderly were doing polypharmacy (taking five or more medicines simultaneously). Taking more than one medicine simultaneously without consulting a doctor can increase or decrease the effect of each other. This study has been done jointly by many medical institutions of the country including Safdarjung Hospital.
According to Dr. Jugal Kishore, Professor of Community Medicine Department of Safdarjung Hospital, the tendency of taking more medicines simultaneously was more in those elderly people who were already suffering from many diseases. The possibility of polypharmacy was 2.5 times higher in elderly people with more than one disease, while this risk was 4.6 times higher in elderly people who were recently hospitalized. This trend was seen 3.3 times more in elderly people who changed doctors. 19.7 percent of the elderly were taking medicines on their own without consulting a doctor.
Unaware of side effects
65.3 percent did not have the correct information related to the medicine. 50% were not aware of the side effects of the medicine. 75 percent of the elderly had multiple diseases, they need regular medicine.
Solution only with right consultation
Dr. Jugal Kishore said that the study clearly shows that there is a dire need to make the elderly aware of safe medicine management and provide them with the right medical consultation. Doctors, family members and health experts will have to increase vigilance in this direction so that the elderly do not consume medicines without proper guidance and can avoid possible side effects.

Silent heart attack is also not less dangerous. Its risk can be reduced by identifying and treating its symptoms in time.
If you have chest pain, be a little careful!
Cases of heart diseases are increasing continuously since last few years. Earlier, heart attacks were more common among people above the age of fifty, but now cases of heart attack are increasing among people of 30 years or less. The matter of concern is that nowadays the risk of silent heart attack has increased a lot. In such a situation, it becomes very important to know whether any symptoms of silent heart attack are visible beforehand? The symptoms of silent heart attack are very mild, which cannot be linked to heart attack. In many cases, it is detected only when the doctor examines them. Silent heart attack is responsible for 45 percent of heart attacks and it affects men more than women.
Pain is not felt
In the language of science, silent heart attack is called ''silent myocardial infarction''. In this type of attack, chest pain is not felt. Many times it also happens that due to problems in the nerves that transmit pain to the brain, spinal cord or even due to psychological reasons, a person is not able to identify the pain. Apart from this, people of older age or those suffering from diabetes also do not feel pain due to autonomic neuropathy.
Symptoms
In case of silent heart attack, symptoms like restlessness, flu-like symptoms, burning sensation in the chest, indigestion, dyspepsia, difficulty in breathing, pain in the chest, jaw, arm or upper back, excessive fatigue, gastric problems, lethargy and weakness without reason, fatigue after doing little work, sudden sweating, frequent shortness of breath can be seen. Most people feel normal before and after a silent heart attack, but after this the risk of having a second heart attack increases a lot.
Reasons
There can be many reasons for silent heart attack. These include being overweight, not eating a balanced diet and consuming too much oily food, processed food, not doing physical activity, addiction and smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, excessive consumption of salt, stress, pre-existing heart diseases, family history of stroke or heart attack can also cause silent heart attack.
Take the symptoms seriously.
If you have indigestion or heartburn along with other symptoms, consult a doctor instead of home remedies. Imaging tests like electrocardiogram or echocardiogram are the only way to identify silent heart attack. A person suffering from heart disease must get himself checked every three months. If you are a heart patient, be very careful about your diet. People suffering from blood pressure should get themselves checked regularly and take medicines on time.
How to prevent it
To avoid the risk of silent heart attack, it is important that you keep getting your checkup done from time to time. Eat a balanced diet. Exercise daily and get enough sleep. Avoid stress. Apart from this, keep your blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control. Stay away from addiction and smoking. Young people between 25 and 35 years of age should get tests done like ECG, Echo and TMT along with lipoprotein A, HS-CRP, chronic calcium before going to the gym. If the results are good then there is nothing to fear. If the results are negative then get it treated. If any kind of symptoms appear in the body, do not ignore it and contact the doctor in time.
Irritability is increasing due to lack of sleep among students
Irritability is increasing due to lack of sleep among students preparing for the 12th examination of CBSE and UP Board. Every day three to five students are coming to the homeopathic department of the Joint Hospital in Sanjaynagar to take medicines for irritability, insomnia, fatigue and lethargy.
A homeopathic medical officer said that 95 percent of the children who are coming to take medicines every day are addicted to eating junk food. He said that Ajinomoto is added to chilli potato and chowmein. Children who have become addicted to its taste suffer from acidity and fatigue due to frequent waking up at night. Ajinomoto slows down the digestive capacity.
He said that studying is a mental exercise, which not only tires the brain but also makes it blurry. It is a common thing in children that after studying for a long time, they often think that they have not studied properly. This happens only because their brain gets tired. By sleeping properly, children can ensure that they have remembered properly what they are studying.
