How do the people stay in this world?

How do the people stay in this world?

Shradheya Gurudev Acharya Pradyuman Jee Maharaj

Once upon a time, the writer asked Shri Maharaj that how should the human being stay in the world? Reply to it, Maharaj cited many examples which are being presented before the readers. He said- as a doctor lives among the patients, similarly the human being should stay in this world. The special feature of doctor is that he never hates patients while treating them. He is filled with kindness. After recovery from disease, kindness becomes affection. He expresses love and kindness towards happy and unhappy people respectively. He never says to the patients that the diseases are result of their misdeeds. What should I do? No intention of atrocity, crime, injustice, etc arises in the mind of the doctor. He sees disease or sadness in his patients.
As every living thing distributes its prosperity among each other without any prejudice, so does the doctor. He promises to make the human being happy. If somebody visits the doctor after killing someone else, he will remain the patient for him. Therefore, Maharaj says that live in this world like doctor. A good doctor neither complains about the patients nor wishes for getting award. The patients are getting benefitted from him. It’s the great achievement for him. Sometimes the patient beats the doctor. There are innumerous forms of patients. On many occasions, the patients spit on the face of doctors who forgive them by saying that ‘they are patients’.
In fact, these various forms have different names which play an important role in making the life either happy or unhappy. Nobody can deny the importance of these names and their impact on the human being. The name makes impact as per its quality. Somebody is hungry. If he thinks that – ‘today he found no food, he died hungrily’ then he gets inflicting pain. In opposite, ‘today he is observing fasting’ it gives happiness. The same activity gets changed due to intention. Everybody experiences this daily.

Every word has a particular meaning. There is a strong relation between both of them. Word is pronounced through speech. It is listened through ear but at the same time, the related meaning of that word emerges in the intellect. As the meaning gets lighted in the intellect, it gives birth an intention in the people as per the sensitivity or internal demand. If the mind of people is not sensitive, the meaning of word fails to bring intention. Heart is known as the center of intention. Heart is unexpressed center of our empire. It has no relation with blood purifier muscles. Heart, navel, womb, esoteric brahm, direct, indirect, nabhya, hiranyagarbh, ajayman, nectar—all these words express the same meaning in various forms.
The Buddhists call it ‘shunya’. In the yagya karmakand, it has been symbolized as Brahma who is the prestige of entire yagya while keeping silence. Therefore, the heart is that element upon which entire world is revolving. Since the heart is internal part of our existence, therefore, it remains invisible. But at the same time, it’s the very basis of the entire sight in the world. Heart has been termed as ‘sea’ in the Ved. Shri Maharaj has made ‘pond’ situated at the ashram as the symbol of heart. As the sea is known as the reservoir of countless gems, similarly heart is source of divine intention. The people enjoy this through longing. This is called meditation.
Yes! How do various meanings of the words create different intentions in the people? Listening the word ‘mother’, a separate intention creates in the people. Similarly, the word ‘wife’ gives another intention. ‘friend’ or ‘foe’ gives different intention in the heart of the people. It’s matter of experience. Seeing a saint, a person says ‘tapasvi mahatma’, while another person says ‘hypocrite’. Imagine how much difference will be between intention of both the people? Intention arising out of calling somebody ‘cleaver’ will certainly be different. Maharaj says that the people like thief, dacoit, looter, criminal, sinner, etc must be termed as ‘patient’.
If we term somebody else as patient, whatever intention will arise in our mind, will be filled with kindness, love and affection. Then, we will do something good for them. In case of giving punishment to them, we will punish them as parents and teachers. If we term them sinner, then a sense of hate or anger will arise against them. Maharaj says that expressing hate or anger will harm both of them.
If somebody expresses anger against other people, both of them will get affected with it. Because, the hate impurifies the soul. The people started to grapple with inferiority complex. He will lose encouragement. Maharaj says—this process won’t help sinner improve himself. Considering someone sinner for forever is an obstacle in his path.
Shri Maharaj says that only two things ‘love’ and ‘manyu’ are capable for changing inferior into superior. Either love or great excitement can change the people. ‘Manyu’ is the name of mental status during which the great excitement starts to emerge in the people. They have no option but to transform themselves. They get ready to demolish their wildness and weakness. They try hard to dissociate themselves from evil. Therefore, great excitement, patience, etc for transformation is called ‘manyu’. It’s not the anger expressed against someone else. It’s status of personal energy for inner transformation. Therefore, sinner may uplift himself, but he never becomes kind. Because he is ‘patient’.
Maharaj says that if somebody is patient, then the disease is hateful instead of patient. The sinner can be loveable and sin is removed. Once the writer asks about ‘shathe shathyam samacharet’. Maharaj replied to it- yes and he will name it ‘shath’. When he will be named as ‘patient’, then we will ponder over the treatment of disease while showering love on the patients. The writer once again says that let somebody is thief. Rectifying the language, Maharaj says that – no, there is a patient. Whatever examples were cited, Maharaj remained firm on his statement and continued to say that – there is a patient.
Yes! As there are various types of diseases, their treatments are different. Given the nature-period-status of the various patients with reference to life, they should try to get rid of it. Maharaj says—the golden formula is that the patient needs kindness. However, the mother’s intention gets changed to see her children eating soil. But at the same time, there is no change in love towards her children. Therefore, the doctors treating the patients must not change their behaviour towards the patients.
Maharaj also suggests to such doctors that the diseases are commonly infectious. Therefore, they should remain cautious while treating the patients to get rid of diseases. Some patients are suffering from either anger or greed or sex or infatuation or ego or jealousness or smoking or abusing or telling lie or stealing or engaging in unnecessary debates or complaining others or indulging in no celibacy, etc. Similarly, somebody is indulging in violence, war, looting, laziness, satisfaction, playing cards, non-vegetarian consumption, drinking wine, cheating others, atheism, etc. The world is filled with such types of diseases, as the sea is the reservoir of aquatic animals.
It has been said earlier that common diseases are contagious. The doctors have to stay, eat and drink, sit and behave with these patients. Therefore, they must be cautious. As the doctors safeguard themselves in the operation theater while treating the patients. Similarly, the seekers must stay with purity in this world filled with all the diseases. Otherwise, if they come in contact with the patients, they will suffer from the diseases.
These doctors must be aware and do tap. They should consume vitamin to boost immune power. They must do it to get rid of diseases. The people lack immunity. Nobody tries to boost it. When all the patients meet with each other, they get infected easily. When somebody tells bitterly, other people are grappled with this disease. Someone starts suffering from greed, sex, etc. Therefore, the people must boost their immunity to remain unaffected with other patients.
If the doctor is infected with bacteria, he must not get excited. The doctor should treat it, otherwise he will fall into great distress. If someone becomes cautious, he will face no difficulty to get rid of it. Otherwise, it will be impossible for him to overcome the disease.
Similarly, Shri Maharaj cites examples of the sun, ant, grass, children, kite, swan, hawk cuckoo, water, etc to reply the question  how do the people stay in the world. All these symbols are being discussed briefly in the chapter named ‘pavan-prateek’ in this scripture.
