Maharshi Kapil

  The mysterious world has been disturbing human mind since time immemorial. Many great personalities have lost their life to solve the mystery. Many saints renounced worldly life to solve this and became a light for the common people so that they can attain the ultimate goal.

Today, we are in the position to ponder over it due to their efforts. It’s judicious to say that whatever capacity we have, we got through the great personalities. They had renounced their intention of selflessness. They showed us the way. But we have known very few personalities.

They are such personalities who were hesitating to put signature on their scriptures. There are several saints and sages who surrendered their life for the country, religion and culture. Out of which, many are not figured in the history. We are curious to know them and get inspiration from their life.

These great souls in the form of sages and saints expressed monolithic and eternal thoughts for our welfare which will become a medium through which we will acquire knowledge.

Astonishingly, there is no opposition of any intellectual despite having different views. It’s an indication of active, intellect and healthy brain. We should take inspiration from them for our personal life and social development.

There was a great Maharshi Kapil who gave a spiritual direction to this world. Maharshi Kapil was a philosopher scholar who presented Sankhya Darshan.

It’s said about Maharshi Kapil that he was the son of Brahma. Lord Krishna had also penned down Sankhya Karika based on Sankhya scripture of Maharshi Kapil. Explaining this Karika, Acharya Gaud-Pad wrote-

Ih Brahmasutah Kapilo Nama I Taddathasanakashcha sanandashcha tritiyashcha sanatanah I
Aasurih kapilashchaiva vodhah panchashikhas tatha I
Ityete brahmanah putrah sapta prokta maharshyah II
Tailang presented the similar excerpt.
Sanakashch sanandashcha tritiyashcha sanatanah I
Kapilashchasurishchaiva vodhuh panchshikhastatha I
Saptaite mansah putra brahmanah parameshithnah II

In this excerpt, Maharshi has been included in seven psychic progeny- sanak, sanandan, sanatan. It’s also clear that somebody else was his real parents.

Maharshi Kapil was extraordinary scholar like Brahma that’s why he has been called as psychic progeny of Brahma. It’s not possible that a child takes birth through desire and will power. It’s always against the creation.

Brahma himself had given many information at a time of Maharshi Kapil’s birth and the latter himself was a great scholar at par with the former.

Birth of Maharshi Kapil

It’s said about his birth that Devahuti, daughter of emperor Manu of Prajapati, got married to saint Kardam. Devahuti gave birth to many girls. After that, Kardam had renounced worldly life. Devahuti got annoyed with Kardam. Devahuti had desire of a son. She was puzzled.

Maharshi Kapil took birth through bomb of Devahuti. Then, Brahma along with other saints like Marichi appeared at ashram of saint Kardam on the bank of river Saraswati and started to address Kardam that he knew that a great personality took birth here to disseminate education and religion in the world. The child will be famous as Maharshi Kapil among the great sankhyacharya.

Maharshi Kapil penned down an extraordinary scripture like Sankhya Darshan for the emancipation of human beings. 
Sankhya Darshan is also called soteriology. Sanskrit literature is filled up with the theories of this scripture. It’s of ancient darshan. Buddhist pundit Ashvaghosh has termed the teacher of Buddha Acharya Arad as vetta of sankhyashastra. Lord Buddha also studied sankhya from him. Therefore, Maharshi Kapil ranks top position in Indian knowledge tradition. The people will remain take inspiration from him.
