Raktamokshan (Shringi therapy)

Raktamokshana is an aphrodisiac therapy and according to Acharya Sushruta, it is described as a special medication process.

There are two main types of Raktamokshan
1.    By the means of Shastra
2.    by the means of Anushastra
The Anushastra means those which are not made of iron. It is beneficial for the Sukumars to perform raktamokshana from them. In this, Jalaukavcharan, Shringavacharan, Alabu Avcharan, Bell Yantra have been included. They are used for raktamokshana according to the condition of dosha, according to the state of blood and according to the state of eagerness.

Sringi therapy

It is the horn of the cow, as it is recessed, it is used in blood discharge by suction method. The horn should be circular and 7 fingers long. The proof of the hole of its root part should be thumb and the hole in the foreground should be accessible to the moong.
It is a type of raktamokshana, which is used in the predominance of blood, the evil caused by vata. According to Acharya Sushruta, it is used in Vata malaise, skin wickedness and in sukumaras. Whereas according to Acharya Vagbhatta it is used in Vata Pitta and skin diseases because the horn of the cow is warm, sweet and aliphatic which is opposite to the cold and dry properties of Vata, this sweet juice is Vatashamak.

For blood pollution

1.  Diet: Excessive consumption of hot, pungent and wicked liquors, excessive intake of kultha, masha, nippava, sesame, curd, amalkanji, sura, sauvirak, excessive intake of salts, alkalis, acids and bitter substances Consumption of potatoes, radishes, green vegetables in excessive quantity, excessive consumption of anti-vegetarian and unhygienic diet.

2. Vihara (Life style): Sleeping after meals, staying in the sun and in the open air for a long time, trauma, stopping the velocity of the pimple, working hard.
3.   Mental motive: To be very angry, to be sad, to be very afraid.
Eligible patients: For Leprosy, Janiculitis, Sciatica, Cervical Colic, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Cervical Spondylitis, Lumbar Spondylitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout etc. Acharya Charaka and Vagbhatta have instructed that those diseases are related to cold and hot, aliphatic and dry, etc. Raktamokshan should be done in such diseases.

Non-eligible patients- Type 1 DM, uncontrolled Type 2 DM, HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Haemophilia, Anemia Piles, which has swelling all over the body, which has become weak due to disease and pregnant women etc.
Eligible period - Autumn is generally considered to be the period of bloodshed. On a day when there is no extreme cold and there is no heat, the day is not covered with medya, in the rainy season there is no honey, in the summer season, in the morning and evening and in the mid-day in the Hemant season, Raktmoksha should be done.

Purva Karma - First of all it is decided whether the patient is eligible for Raktamokshana or not. Before raktamokshan the patient is lubricated. Note: Lodhra, liquorice, priyagu, kite, garik, sargaras, conch, shalmali flower, conch shell, succulent, wheat - their powder should be applied on the ulcer and pressed with the finger. Kwath of Kakolyadi Gana should be given mixed with honey and sugar.
In case of unconsciousness, use powder of nutmeg powder, pippali, vidanga, horseradish seed, apamarga seed, etc., in the form of sharp nasya.
